About Us

We are one of the oldest chess clubs in Edinburgh and although originally formed by civil servants in 1909, you do not need to be a civil servant to join the club!

New members of all ages and playing strengths are very welcome to join the club.

We actively take part in both local Edinburgh and National competitions. See Activities for more details.

Venue

The club meets at Slateford Bowling club, 28 Lanark Road, Edinburgh, EH14 1TH ( map ) on Monday nights from 7pm.

There is a carpark with a small number of parking spaces on site with free parking available across the road after 6.30pm. The Lothian Buses 4, 34, 36 and 44 stop nearby.

The playing hall is a large spacious function suite with plenty of space to spread out. Club members are free to use the bowling club bar facilities.
