Five first round games in the club championship were played on Monday 3rd October 2022.
João and Charles played a grade friendly.
Club Championship
Wins for the higher graded players who all had the white pieces.
Richard had a winning position against Euan but unfortunately made some mistakes and the tables were turned.
Andrew had a slightly cramped position in a French Defence which allowed Allan to build up a winning pressure on the king side.
Eric had done the hard work to get a winning position against Isaac only to be caught out by confusion over when 15 minutes gets added after the time control was reached. The 15 minutes are only added when one of the players clock drops to 0.00. Isaac created some tactical complications but Eric navigated through them to deliver checkmate.
Janice learned a new skill of recording chess moves, ably guided by Simon.
