Home loss against University 1

Tough title decider was lost by 1½ - 4½ to University 1.

Matt was winning but blundered two pieces and lost quickly.

Allan had a promising position with some pressure but ended up losing.

My opponent played h3 so I incorrectly assumed there would be no h4 pawn attack, only for h4 to be played a few moves later! Engine suggests I defended reasonably well and towards the end if I had dropped king back to h8 then white would only have had a small advantage. Certainly felt I was much worse with exposed king but there were defensive resources.

Charles took a draw with opponent having pawns close to queening and Charles knight being too far away to contribute to a mating attack.

Euan ended up in endgame with king and rook against king rook and pawn on 7th rank. Opponents rook was poorly placed so king could approach and win the pawn.

Ralph was a pawn up in quick play finish which may have been winning but a draw was agreed.

Congratulations to University in winning the match and the league title.
