Summer Cup - win over Edinburgh West

We won 5-1 over the board and 5-3¾ on handicap in the semi-final of the Summer Cup.
David Hale launched an attack down the h file - with Q and R and mate couldn’t be avoided.
Douglas (as befits an internationalist) was soon a piece up and forced his opponent onto the defensive. Douglas took control of the 7th rank and further resistance was pointless.
Charles enjoyed a slight space advantage throughout the game and entered a N and P endgame with the more active pieces which ensured the win.
Ralph had an early material advantage and managed to get a P to c7. He then simplified into a K and P ending which was clearly winning.
Stuart also enjoyed a relatively early material advantage. His opponent put up dogged resistance but Stuart forced the exchange of material and was on the point of promoting a P when his opponent resigned.
Eric’s opponent gained a space advantage against the French Defence and exerted pressure on the b file which led to him winning the exchange. Eric tried some traps in an attempt to get a perpetual but to no avail.
