Two games in the club championship were played on Monday 15th January 2024.
Club Championship
William and Gerry completed their round two game. William played the Alekhine’s Defence against Gerry’s e4 and won a pawn following a series of exchanges which resulted in an early endgame with opposite coloured bishops and a rook each. Gerry managed to exchange rooks and prevent the extra pawn from advancing. A draw was agreed on move 49.
In the third round David beat Derek with the black pieces.
