Another busy night at the club with the last game of the club championship, friendlies against players from the U3A group, and some shorter time control friendlies being played.

Mathew defeated Tommy with the white pieces to draw this seasons club championship to a close.

University of the Third Age (U3A) Friendlies
We welcomed six players from the U3A chess group that Stuart McKinney leads to the chess club and a number of friendly games were played.
I played two interesting games against Bill which were both close coming out of the opening but some minor tactics in both games proved decisive.
Gerry had two good games against Philip just edging the first game in a complicated major piece middle game. And then narrowly drawing the second game in a king and knight ending that he should have lost!
Did not see the other games but hopefully everyone enjoyed their games.
