Second Team Lost to Wandering Dragons 2

Team lost 3½ - 2½ to a strong Wandering Dragons team.

Wins for Simon on Board 1 against a player graded nearly 400 points higher and Emma on Board 6.

I drew with Donald Heron. I was under a lot of pressure for most of the game but eventually managed to get to a position a pawn down with Queens and Bishops of opposite colours. Donald had about 2 minutes left on his clock - I had about 6. We exchanged queens and agreed a draw. Bystanders pointed out that Donald missed a mate in one a couple of moves before the end. I certainly didn’t see it.

I didn’t see much of the other games apart from Emma’s. She was under some pressure but managed to develop a K side attack which forced resignation.

Simon seemed to have a strong attack against an opponent whose pieces seemed to become disjointed.

The other three games were close fought but Douglas, Patrick and João were eventually ground down by players rated 300 odd points higher.
