A record turn out of twenty players took part in the Spring Allegro.

Two qualifying sections of 10 players were played over 7 rounds with Euan McDiarmid and Allan McDiarmid winning their respective sections. Allan was clearly on good form with a perfect 100% score of 7/7.

A play off for the trophy was then played between Allan and Euan, with Euan having 8 minutes and 5 minutes for Allan.

Both players started quickly and Allan eventually untangled from some opening pressure to reach a level position. Unfortunately he proceeded to blunder a piece and with no compenstion the game was soon decided. This is Euan’s second time winning the Spring Lightning and sees him impressively winning both the autumn and spring lightnings this year!
