First team move to 4/4!

We welcomed University of Edinburgh 2nd team for our 4th league match.
Despite me losing on top board we managed to win 4 - 2 to give us a 100% score so far.
My opponent prepared a line against me and although I considered the recommended move I rejected it for an inferior alternative and was soon worse.
Euan was first to finish and concluded with a nice checkmate that his opponent missed.
Charles played an opponent who he had played many times at chess in the park and went an exchange up with rook for knight. The knight was very strong and Charles only option was to exchange rook back for knight but this led to a drawn queen and pawns ending.
Ralph won a minor piece with opponent having no compensation. Major pieces came off leading to a won endgame.
Allan was last to finish with a pawn up in opposite coloured bishop ending. Having a draw in the bank (and very unlikely to lose!) he proceeded to go for the win and forced opponent to give up bishop to stop passed rook pawn promoting. It looked like blacks best chance was to push her king through the centre to help support her passed pawn but instead she dropped the king backwards which allowed Allan to mop up the passed pawn with a won ending.
